B&W Darkroom Printing

Get hands-on experience and instruction from in our Darkroom as you work through developing your own print from your film negatives.
And now comes the printing! During this class, you will get hands-on experience and instruction from Mat Marrash in our Darkroom as you work through developing your own print from your developed film negatives. By the end of the night, attendees will have successfully proofed their entire roll of 35mm film and created at least one 8×10” enlarged, finished print.
Prerequisite: Attendees should take Intro To Film Photography and B&W Film Development, or have knowledge of film exposure AND film developing. Please email liz@mpex.com if you have questions about skills needed for this class!
What will be covered:
- Tools and chemistry necessary to develop a B&W print
- Discussing different types of printing paper
- Evaluating negatives and proofing
- Creating test strips and finding the right time and contrast for print
- Enlarging a final print on 8×10” RC paper
Needed for class:
- Developed roll of 35mm negatives
- Pen & paper for notes
- Clothes you would not mind getting dirty
