Luminescent Portraits Workshop with Susan Magnano at Scioto Audubon Park!

Join us for an immersive light painting workshop where you’ll step into the world of long exposures, glowing trails, and unforgettable portraits in this immersive live demo, with photographer and light painting artist Susan Magnano. Susan is exciting to be collaborating with Midwest Photo and Nanlite for this unique experience.

This hands-on 3 hour workshop Susan will reveal how to turn ordinary darkness into a luminous canvas using simple tools like flashlights, LED wands, and handmade modifiers. She’ll share behind-the-scenes tips on how she crafts surreal, eye-catching portraits with light, and demonstrate live how you can do it too—no studio or fancy gear required.

You’ll learn:

• Creative tools & techniques to shape light in-camera
• Tips for working with models and movement in the dark
• How to use light to elevate your storytelling and stand out

Whether you’re a portrait photographer, a night shooter, or simply looking to break creative boundaries, this session will light your imagination on fire.

This workshop night will begin at Midwest Photo an then we will travel to Scioto Audubon park to light paint outdoors and create some epic lightpainting portrats with the columbus city as our backgroud!

Susan Magnano’s artistry shines brightest in the darkness. As a photographer, explorer, and educator, she is renowned for her expertise in light painting, long exposures, and night photography, constantly pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.

After getting her start as a photojournalist, Susan transitioned her skill for capturing moments into shooting events and portraits. As an award-winning photographer with over 20 years of experience, Susan is a respected educator in the industry and now shares her innovative techniques and globally-cultivated perspective on her Photo Adventures.
